Go Texas!

You know how you always see those commercials to visit different states? There is the California one that I have seen countless times. As well as one for Michigan, and I think there is another one but unfortunately I'm not quite sure what state it is for. Well yesterday while watching Reba on Country Music Television, which may quite possibly be one of my favorite TV channels, there was a commercial for Texas! It started out with "Reba is brought to you in part by Texas" followed by a commercial about the great state I call home. It was so wonderful to hear all about why Texas is so awesome on national television! I know its awesome, as does everyone else from Texas, but now everyone else gets to hear about it through commercials on TV! Its absolutely wonderful! I don't exactly know why it is that us Texans have such pride for our state, but we do and it unites us all, especially while going to an out of state school. I love seeing Texas flags hanging in people's rooms, or even Texas flag shorts!
I typically hate commercials, because I've become so accustomed to DVR and being able to fast forward through them, but the Texas commercial was the absolute best thing I have seen all week! GO TEXAS! AND GO REBA! and I will never say this again... but yay for commercials!

Happy Easter! Oops I Mean April Fools!

These days I don't use facebook all that much. I post pictures and occasionally tag people in a status but I don't post statuses multiple times a day anymore and often times not even once a day. However, I do still scroll through my news feed for a bit every day just to see whats going on, but usually I just look at pictures that pop up! I like this page called "Parents call it back talk, we call it explaining why they're wrong." (Lame, I know but hey I was in middle school when I liked it) Well, this group posts funny pictures all day and they fill up my news feed. Usually the pictures are pretty good and sometimes they just leave you like "why on earth would someone share this photo?!" Yesterday while doing my daily scroll through this one picture caught my eye. I couldn't read everything it said, so I clicked on it, and I didn't regret it.
I know it's kind of lame, but I thought it was one of the funniest things ever! Maybe its the cute raccoon, or maybe its the fact that that is a very good (ignoring the fact that its a tad cruel) idea! Im almost tempted to try it, but all the kids I know would look, and look and look and look X1,000,000 until they found them. A bright side to that is they would definitely keep them occupied, but I could see some tears and tantrums coming out of it. Guess that idea is out! :(

Usually "Parents call it back talk, we call it explaining why they're wrong"'s photos are really funny, but lately they've been a bit boring. Then this one popped up, and I couldn't stop laughing! Facebook has unfortunately become too filled with adults and the teenagers who still use it religiously just whine about unimportant crap. The funny groups that I like such as "I love Southern Boys," "I hate when you wave to people and they don't see you," and "Ian Somerholder Fan Club," are the only reason I even peak at facebook everyday. The pictures posted by these groups including "parents..." are priceless and make facebook worth while!

Thank Goodness for Emails

I received an email this morning about advertising on my car and getting paid to do it! I thought "hey, why not?" I mean I drive my car and I only have to look at the inside. I could also use a little extra money, being a broke college student and all. As long as its not one of those all over your car advertisements I might actually do it.
It amazes me how far advertising has come. Its impossible to avoid it. There are ads on Twitter, Facebook and now even all over cars! Its just crazy how far companies will go to get their product out there and make more money. Take Red Bull for example. They have a giant Red Bull can on top of company cars.
That to me is a little extreme. Hopefully the company that contacted me is not wanting me to be this extreme, but if its just a simple ad on one section of my car, I may actually consider it.

Till next time,

The Wonders of Google

Today, while studying for my Media and Society Midterm exam in the fabulous Mullins Library, I unfortunately had to use the restroom. You can tell I don't make an appearance at the library often, because I definitely did not know where the restroom was. Now, any normal person would have just gotten up and found one, or interrupted the unsuspecting soul, deep in their studies, next to them to ask where the closest one was. But I didn't really want to leave my computer, cell phone, and iPad just laying on the table as I aimlessly wander around looking for the loo, not to mention I am most definitely not normal. Then a little light bulb went off in my head! (This is where my interaction with the all-pervasive media comes in);) So I opened up Safari, went to google and searched "floor plan of the University of Arkansas Library," and what do you know? The first link took me to the Mullins Library home page where I was able to select which floor I was on and find the nearest restroom. Thanks to the all-knowing Google, I was able to get up with confidence and head off in the exact direction of the restroom. I minimized the time a lowly thief would have had to come by and snatch my iPad, and averted disaster, all because I looked up directions! Thank you Google! Thank you for providing directions!

Until next time,
