My Media Interactions Overall!

These past few weeks of paying attention to my media interactions have been interesting to say the least. It has actually been kind of fun getting to share my experiences. Its amazing how pervasive the media truly is. Sometimes we don't realize just how often we come in contact with media sources. Of course we realize that Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, etc are all social media, but I never actually thought about the fact that Google is a media source. Now that I think about it I feel dumb not fully realizing it at first, but when I hear the word "media" I think social media and the news I see on TV, but usually not much else. The most enjoyable part about journaling my media interactions was getting to make connections between multiple sources like I did with the boy friend pillow on twitter and TV. Apart from that, I loved actually paying attention to a commercial for a change. (Go Texas!!!) I feel like I should stop ignoring commercials as much as I normally do. I'm just glad I didn't change the channel like I usually do, because then I would have missed the best commercial ever! After this assignment, and even just after taking this class I have a new appreciation for all the things around me and in my life that actually count as media sources. I will never go a day thinking that I haven't had an encounter with media again! As I wrap up this assignment and my blogging experience I would like to share just a few more things! Thanks for reading! Enjoy!

The Boyfriend Pillow

A little over a month ago, when I was working for this special twitter account called Because Im a Girl, I tweeted a picture of this pillow called "The Boyfriend Pillow." It is a pillow that has an arm and a hand connected to what is supposed to be like a man's chest. Its perfectly designed for cuddling when you have no one else to cuddle with. Its kind of brilliant.
Well after tweeting the picture I thought I never thought I would see this crazy pillow ever again. Then what do you know?! GLEE made an episode where there was not one, not two, but three of this crazy things! Kurt, Santana and Rachel who all graduated and moved to New York City were all struggling with breakups at the exact same time. So what does Kurt do? He buys them all boyfriend pillows! At first the girls think its kind of weird, but then they embrace it and the trio watches Mama Mia on the couch while all simultaneously snugglin' with their pillows!

I could not stop laughing! First I see this pillow and cannot believe its real, and then I see it on GLEE with people actually using it. This picture has gone from Google, to Twitter and now onto national television! I have a feeling "Boyfriend Pillow" sales are going to shoot up after this goofy GLEE episode. I wonder if a GLEE producer saw my tweet and got the idea from me?! Guess the world will never know!

Till Next Time
